Bec Talbot is an Australian abstract artist based on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Her work explores how light, memory and lived experience shape our perception of place, drawing inspiration from the ever-changing landscapes of the coastline and hinterland.

With a background in primary education, Bec’s journey into the art world was an unexpected yet deeply transformative one. After receiving a life-altering cancer diagnosis, she stepped away from the classroom to focus on her recovery and well-being. It was during this challenging period that she turned to painting, discovering not only a creative outlet but also a source of solace and healing. For Bec, art became a powerful form of therapy - one that nurtured her mindfulness and brought a sense of calm to her life.

Working intuitively with layered acrylics, translucent glazes and expressive mark-making, Bec creates atmospheric paintings that sit between abstraction and landscape. Rather than depicting a specific location, her work evokes the feeling of a place—fleeting light, shifting horizons and the emotional traces landscapes leave behind. Through irregular forms, layered surfaces and a restrained yet expressive palette, each painting invites viewers to slow down, find their own connection within the work, and reflect on the quiet beauty of the everyday.

At the heart of Bec's practice is an interest in the landscapes we carry with us—how light, memory and lived experience transform the way a place is remembered. Her paintings seek not to represent a place, but to capture the way it is remembered, creating space for viewers to bring their own memories and experiences to the work.

Bec's work has been featured in Home Beautiful and Vanity Fair and is held in private collections throughout Australia and internationally. She has completed an artist residency at M|Arts Precinct, Murwillumbah, and has exhibited in Resilient Gratitude (MIST Gallery, 2024), Drawn to Art (M|Arts Precinct, 2025) and Spirit of Place (Husk Distillery, 2026). She was a finalist in the Hall & Wilcox Emerging Artist Prize (2025) and Revival Emerging Artist Prize (2026).
